NFL fan blocked from wearing Trump t-shirt at game and is told to remove it in heated confrontation with stadium staff | The US Sun

FOOTBALL fans have been left furious after a spectator was forced to remove his Donald Trump shirt at a game.

Stadium security blocked a Buffalo Bills fan from wearing his Trump t-shirt on Sunday and said it was due to NFL policy.

Video shared on social media shows fans arguing with a security member at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, New York.

Multiple fans on the sidelines were seen yelling at the staff member, who stood on the football field, in a heated confrontation before the game kicked off.

The Bills fan, who hasn't been named, wore a navy T-shirt with the words "Trump 2024" and the slogan "Keep America first!"

Fired-up spectators questioned the guard's demand that the fan remove his shirt - but he said he was just acting in line with the league's policy.

He stated that the rule didn't just stand for Trump merch, but that it was applied to all political clothing.

"It's not a Trump shirt, it's nothing political," the staff member clarified.

The fan in the Trump shirt, along with the people around him, asked the security guard where the rule could be checked.

"We're in a free country!" the fans yelled as the security guard put his hands up and shrugged.

The NFL's code of conduct for what fans can wear to games is broad, leaving exact rules up to specific teams.

"Prior to attending a game, fans are encouraged to visit the NFL team's website for additional guidelines specific to the stadium," the league's website states.

Highmark Stadium's policy shows that the security guard was correct as political shirts are banned from the venue.

"Clothing or material with profane language or obscene graphics or anything political in nature" is included in the list of prohibited items at the stadium.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Bills for comment.

The tense situation came just two days before this year's presidential election between Trump and Kamala Harris.

The NFL typically leaves rules about fan conduct up to their specific teams and stadiums to decide.

Besides a clear bag policy, the NFL has a vague conduct policy where they ask fans to respect each other while at games.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Bills' Highmark Stadium has a clear policy on their website prohibiting certain items and apparel from fans.

The list of prohibited items includes:

The team's stadium site says the items are prohibited "to avoid delays at the gate, for the safety of our guests, and for the enjoyment of all guests at the game."

Just one week earlier, San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa got in hot water for wearing a Make America Great Again hat, showing his support for Trump, during a post-game interview.

According to the NFL rulebook, players are "prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office."

The NFL has an even stricter policy against political statements.

"The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, mouthpieces, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns," the rulebook states.

Bosa won't be suspended, but he'll likely face a hefty fine.

First-time offenders of the "personal messages" policy can be fined up to $11,255, according to the NFL website.

The NFL is expected to decide Bosa's fine sometime this week.
