Jonathan Bailey Wears Short Shorts at Wicked Premiere

The actor teamed his tiny shorts with a sheer polo shirt

Move over, Paul Mescal.

Jonathan Bailey took the opportunity to show off his insanely toned legs at a Wicked photocall in Australia donning a pair of black pleated shorts that rival Mescal's beloved 5-inch inseams.

Bailey, 36, posed with castmates Jeff Goldblum, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in Sydney on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Along with his daringly short shorts, the Bridgerton actor wore a sheer black long-sleeve polo shirt. He accessorized with a pair of black loafers and black sunglasses.

In the upcoming adaptation of the famed Broadway musical, Bailey plays Fiyero, the love interest of Elphaba (Erivo).

Bailey's ensemble was a sharp contrast to the method dressing that Erivo, 37, and Grande, 31, have embraced during the promo tour. True to their characters' signature color palettes, Erivo opted for an emerald green top with black embroidery and a black lacy skirt. She accessorized with a black and white fascinator and sky-high platform shoes.

Grande, meanwhile, sported a white strapless crop top with pink details that matched her pink pleated skirt. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a sleek bun.

On Sunday, Nov. 3, the Wicked cast kicked off the press tour by attending the "Journey Through Oz" Tour at Sydney's State Theatre. Grande channeled Glinda in a voluminous pink gown that featured a fitted bodice and statement sleeves, accessorizing with over 100 carats of diamonds in custom-made Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Erivo looked elegant in a strapless black gown with a striking structured skirt.

Bailey previously told PEOPLE about working with Erivo. "Having watched her perform and doing opposite her and just seeing what she's doing is pretty incredible," he said of the Grammy-, Emmy- and Tony-winning actress.

The Fellow Travelers star also commended the rest of the cast, which includes Michelle Yeoh and Bowen Yang. “Everyone who's involved is a theater nerd," Bailey said, adding that group is now "completely bonded for life."

On the Broadway Podcast Network's Sentimental Men podcast, Grande recalled the cast crying "every day" on set. “Me, everyone, we all cried every day,” the singer said on the Friday, Nov. 1 episode.

Wicked: Part One is in theaters Nov. 22. Wicked: Part Two is slated for Nov. 26, 2025.
